GALA TEAMS: (PLEASE NOTE YOU MUST STILL CROSS OR TICK AT THE BOARD) If you cannot make the gala due to illness etc on the day please ring

The major changes are:

Age groups for the Youth Championships. 15/16, 17/Over for Individuals. 15-18 for team events.
Single qualifying time for all age groups (to encourage participation by older swimmers)

Moving 14 year old girls to the Age Group Championships takes 25% of the swims out of this competition. To ensure that the competition is a reasonable experience for swimmers, we have eased entry times, particularly for older swimmers and introduced Base and Automatic QTs to allow for flexibility when processing entries.

Please may I remind all parents that the holiday list is on the board at the WLC and needs to be used for when a swimmer is unavailable for a competition.

This does not mean they put themselves on the holiday list a week before a gala especially after they have been selected. They need to be on a list at least 3 weeks before a competition.

Birthday parties, holidays, family events are to be avoided on the night of a gala, Witney is a competitive club, and we train to compete, if swimmers are not available for competitions then there is no point in training and being part of a club.

I am already having problems for next weeks gala with swimmers crossing off, however this years holiday list has been up since end of October. If swimmers are consistently not available then they will not be picked for future galas.

The league galas are important for the clubs ranking and County relays are also coming up that swimmers need to be available for.

Please understand that it is not easy picking teams and when swimmers pull out a week before it makes things even harder.
